Cultivate Your Ground

Like the farmer and the gardener, you've got to be ready to sow your seed in good ground.  However, the ground here refers to your life.  Many times we make investments in our lives and get very little in return.  One reason may be we haven't taken the time to ensure our lives are fertile enough to nurture the planted seed.  Are we really ready for a harvest to spring forth?  Have we really taken the time to fertilize our lives with the substance to sustain us through a season of growth?  Think about your thoughts.  A fertile life is one sustained through positive, healthy thoughts.  One not easily deterred by distractions.  One that can take any situation and add a positive spin and take it as a lesson learned.  Think about your actions.  If your thoughts are positive, then your actions will be the same because your thoughts fuel your actions.  A fertile life is one reinforced through doing the "right" thing, doing the "necessary" thing, doing what "must" be done even in the face of challenges.  It is important to pay attention to what you are feeding your life.  What you feed your life fertilizes it.  What books are you reading?  What music are you listening to?  What type of entertainment are you indulging in?  What kind of people are you engaging?  All of these things must be taken into consideration.  They make be the difference between a seed that grows and one that dies.  Take the time to cultivate your ground.  Make it as fertile as possible.  It's the only one you've got!

  1. Minister Gwen you are so right, the ground is important. As we grow we build up our defenses primarily because of our life experiences which is representive of hard clayed soil. We have to first make sure we are a good lot to plant which is surrounded by other flourishing crop. If not then there is a work that has to be done on the inside. You have to plow and remove the weeds (bad associates), rocks (addictions) and shells (crab friends that can survive in water but chooses live under dirt)that may have been barried under our dirt. Once you have removed most of your henderances then you can now accept a seed and nourish it with living water. Living water helps in the germinating process. Once you have recieved germination then it will only a matter of time before there is a harvest.

  2. Hard clay soil is a life that rejects everything - even itself. It is accepting of nothing and in return gives nothing. Nothing in and nothing out. What a waste! It's my goal to be good ground. Fertile soil - life receiving and life giving. One that can nourish a seed to its full fruition. Oh, the possibilities!!!

  3. As Pastor preached one sunday we have to "Dig A Little Deeper" we have the tools and many times we are in the right field. We are on a lot of occasions, just plain lazy because if we start to dig that means we're now committing ourself. Once people start to notice that someone is clearing a field now you know someone is watching because they're waiting to see the finish product. Then there are times when people working on them self in a lot neighboring and they get stuck so they are waiting to steal your harvest and represent it as their fruit. Even in our laboring we have to be careful who we let on God's property (in your life) the beast is still in the field and the foul is in the air watching. :)
